Where to Drink in Caye Caulker
There’s plenty of rum flowing on this island. The motto is “Go Slow” which is also great advice for drinking. It only gets really rowdy late at night so enjoy your day drinking!
On a Swing
Okay, so this isn’t a specific location per say, but you do have multiple opportunities to be drunk on a literal swing. Some are outdoor swings, some are indoor swings. Sometimes the whole table swings. You are going to love it.
The Lazy Lizard
This is a really cool bar. Its bright green and yellow and red, it’s covered with graffiti, it comes right up to the split. The split is a section of the island so named because a hurricaine in 1968 barreled through the island and literally divided it.
The Lazy Lizard features a pool, furniture in the water, and all the young and beautiful people hang out here. There’s large portions of food, live music, and everything you could ever ask for.
The Barrier Reef Sports Bar
This place really is wild. The second night on the island a group of people got asked to move a few yards down the sidewalk so the bar could avoid any liability from the young man and the tattoo artist who had come to some sort of business agreement in between the fifth and the sixth drink.
There’s dancing, and karaoke and carrying on. All the drinks have dirty names like “The Panty Ripper” and the “Filthy Sailor.” I got wasted and sang “Benny and the Jets.” No I am not posting that video 🙂
Ice and Beans
So… This is a coffee spot. Not for dirty alcoholic beverages. But they serve really yummy coffees, smoothies and fresh pastries. And there are a lot of dogs that hang out here, so how can you go wrong? We stopped here every morning.
